The last month has been a bit of a disaster not just due to fishing but in normal terms aswell. Firstly my laptop blew up on me so after looking around I managed to pick one up for a reasonable price, and had it delivered today which is the deadline date for this article to be sent off! Then one of my beloved Nevilles got flooded with water and every time a bleep occurred it carried on screaming, so striking into nothing became a regular thing at night.

It’s at this time of year that you’ll find most lakes choked with weed, now while it’s good for the carp as it provides safety and an endless supply of natural food it’s not very nice for the angler. It makes angling slightly more difficult and not as straight forward as you would like it to be. Angling becomes more difficult because the carp become so pre-occupied on the mass amount of naturals that angler’s baits become easily ignored, so the percentage of buying a bite becomes lower.

Many people just don’t understand the concept of carp fishing; I am forever hearing people comment on how boring it must be to throw the rods out, wait all day and in the end possibly catch nothing. Well all I can say is the people who say this are totally wrong with the image they have of carp fishing..

Lee Gennings - May 2007
Well over the last five weeks it has gone from better to better within my fishing and close friends fishing. First of all last month I mentioned the 39lb target mirror that a very close friend of mine caught, and how I hoped I would be there to share the joy when he caught that forty. Well as you have predicted…yes he caught it, a very big common of 42lb 10oz. The length and looks of this fish was amazing and seeing it on the bank has only made my hopeful ambition for this fish grow stronger.

Well I hope you’ve all had a good months fishing because I can certainly say that I haven’t, sadly. It’s been a real shame but it just keeps me going back wanting more. I have still managed to get out angling but only for one day session a week, all but one 48hour session at the beginning of the month. As we all know spring is on its way and hopefully a lot of good will come with it.

Lee Gennings - February 2007
The weather over the last couple of months has been ridiculous, very warm by anyone’s standards. So thinking about the weather I considered going down the lines of using a bit more bait than I would usually use in January/February. I wasn’t going to use kilos of boilies, but I thought a good few spodfulls of a particle with only a little visual aspect to it would hopefully do the trick on enticing the carp to feed. So David at the Bait & Feed Company sent me something that he thought fit for the job.
