The last month has been a bit of a disaster not just due to fishing but in normal terms aswell. Firstly my laptop blew up on me so after looking around I managed to pick one up for a reasonable price, and had it delivered today which is the deadline date for this article to be sent off! Then one of my beloved Nevilles got flooded with water and every time a bleep occurred it carried on screaming, so striking into nothing became a regular thing at night. Lastly the only thing I have managed is a recapture of the 28lb mirror in last month’s article and a 26lb mirror!
Recapture
I was fishing in the same swim as I had caught the fish in before, and after waking up seeing loads of fish all over me fizzing, rolling, crashing and receiving no takes I decided to wait for the sun to come up a little bit and drop one of my baits up on the shallower nine foot part of the plateau I was fishing and pult twenty baits over it, trying to bait tight as I wanted to keep most of my free offerings in the nine foot area. No sooner had I started tying a rig the rod ripped off and I landed the same fish known as the scarred mirror. The fish was ever so powerful, and I’m glad to say the size 6 LS hooks from Rig Marole stood up to me heaving the fish away from the snags.

12mm Baits
For those of you who want to get hold of smaller sized of even larger sized baits have a chat with David at the Bait & Feed Company. Not many direct bait companies roll there baits any smaller than 14mm or any larger than 20mm. Something I am going to try in my fishing is fishing over clusters of 12mm baits, I saw it in one of Jim Shelly’s articles years ago and am going to give it a try, as I don’t see no one using small baits where I’m fishing because of the distance that’s fished in some cases, and small bait would make baiting up a nightmare. However if distance is the case I am going to spod out little PVA mesh bags full of 12mm baits, its something different and I really think it will work and make a difference in my results, hopefully.
Small and Big baits
I know it isn’t as hot as it should be at this time of year, but usually this is when the lakes see the most pressure so doing things different is something to be considered right now, things such as small or large baits, or particle fishing… being different is the key until there September/October heavy feeding period where we should all give them a bit of quality food!
