Well over the last five weeks it has gone from better to better within my fishing and close friends fishing. First of all last month I mentioned the 39lb target mirror that a very close friend of mine caught, and how I hoped I would be there to share the joy when he caught that forty. Well as you have predicted…yes he caught it, a very big common of 42lb 10oz. The length and looks of this fish was amazing and seeing it on the bank has only made my hopeful ambition for this fish grow stronger.

Before the Forty
It wasn’t just the 42lb common he caught that weekend that made it special, it was the fact that the lake was very busy when we arrived so rather than screw other people’s chances up and shoot ourselves in the foot at the same time, we decided to split and pop down the Stour for the night. We opted for the two car park swims as we were only there for the night and by 11:30pm Andy had added yet another 39lb mirror to the books. It was a lovely weight for the fish, and a new lake record to add! The next day after speaking to everyone about what had happened most of them had said go on Andy have that big common and you’ll be laughing…7:15am the next morning he granted his own and everyone else’s wishes, well done geezer. Top angling!

Angling Elsewhere
Recently I have received a key for a water a bit closer to home. At my time in writing this I have only done one 48hour session there, which was an unsuccessful trip for me; however Tom had a lovely 34lb mirror, well chuffed for a first session fish. The fish I am hoping to catch from this water are very old and scaly, proper carp as many people would put it. I will keep you informed about this one and the success I am hoping to achieve there.
The Bait
I received some of the new Smokey mackerel boilies from David at the Bait & Feed Company and have already started including them in with my baiting. The Bait consist of the well known Particle 42 groundbait, Robin Red, Low Temperature Fishmeals, Milk Proteins, Palatability Enhancers, and the awesome Smokey Mackerel flavour. The team seem very confident with the way the bait has been put together, and I’m sure they have strived to create yet another good fish catching product. This bait also has matching Pop-Ups and Dips to use along with the Frozen Ready Mades.
In Conclusion
It hasn’t all been hopeful for me as my own fishing this month has been very good, them carp gods certainly made the effort for me this time. I have been concentrating my efforts down on my usual target water, and I have nicked a few good fish along the way. One of these fish was clearly built for speed and was a lovely 26lb 8oz “proper” mirror, caught along with a wonderful little 17lb mirror. However before all of this I had one of my own targets in the shape of a 42lb 8oz mirror, in which I will have the story for you next month. As for now I am going to conclude this month’s article with a well done for all my friends who have had a great months fishing and happy angling for everyone else out there!
